Here are five fret sizes drawn in correct proportion for comparison. From small to tall, we offer a fret for the most popular styles and preferences. These are the finest frets available made from hard nickel / silver to give you long life with steel strings. For general reference we use Dunlop's fret wire, however,actual fret dimensions vary somewhat from batch to batch. All sizes are listed by width and height. Sizes below are listed by Width or (B) x Height or(A)

6230 This is the smallest wire found in older Fender necks. Size: .078" x .043"
6150 Vintage jumbo. Much wider but not as tall as the 6230. Size: .102" x .042"
6105 Contemporary narrow and tall, a very popular choice. Size: .090" x .055"
6100 This is Jumbo, the biggest guitar wire available. Size: .110" x .055
6130 Often refered to as Medium Jumbo. Size: 106" x .036"

For general reference, the different fret sizes only have advantages if your willing to change your playing style. For instance, a jumbo, the 6100 fret wire will inherently give you better sustain, tone, bending and ease of playability, this is because your fingers aren't bottoming out on the fingerboard, you don't have to press as hard to fret a note or cord and in turn it's easier to play all the way around. The down side is that you need to adjust your playing style especially if you are used to playing a smaller or vintage fret, you'll tend to be heavy handed at the outset so your notes will be sharp and out of tune, the action will also feel a bit higher because your used to feeling the fingerboard as you play, but as you get used to the wire you will notice the ease and speed in which you play. So to wrap this up, if you want these advantages which I've listed above you'll have to make some sacrifices. If you've been playing a small fret all your life and you feel comfortable don't change it will only frustrate you, if your looking for something new without going to the extreme step up to a fret that's only a bit taller like the 6105 OR THE 6130.
